"Augen AUF!" - A documentary film project on the subject of discrimination.

Trixiewiz e.V, in cooperation with Cafe Pink has been working on the project, "Augen AUF! - A documentary film on the subject of discrimination" since the start of 2011.

"Augen AUF!" is a documentary film project on the subject of discrimination, initiated and carried out by a group of young, active and engaged women who call themselves Youth Concillors.

Through the use of interviews, the group will explore both their own experiences of discrimination as well as those experienced by other sectors of society.

It is important to the young women not only to use the film to expose different forms of discrimination, but also explore the complex structures which lie within; it will become clear that the personal experience of discrimination does not protect from adopting a dicriminatory attitude towards others. Through a biographical approach, the personal ways of dealing with discrimination will be asked about and also possible collaborative ways of dealing with discrimination will be explored.

The Youth Councillors have agreed that they will use the film to not only present for themselves "what we as young people with a so-called migration background can achieve", but to also give themselves a public voice and in doing so call for more political inclusion; they also intend to encourage more respect, tolorance and solidarity.

Film premiere: December 9, 2011 at 6 pm. Location: Aula der Erziehungsfachschule des PFH, Karl-Schrader-Str. 7/8, 10781 Berlin-Schöneberg. Please register in advance info@trixiewiz.de.

Education creates a future

Education for girls in northern Uganda

In 2004 and 2005 the non-profit organization Trixiewiz e.V. is raising funds for the (school) education of girls in northern Uganda.

Not only do investments in the education of girls protect them from discrimination, exploitation and dangers such as AIDS, but they also have extensive positive repercussions in the development of a society as a whole.

We, Trixiewiz e.V., know that providing these girls with an education means that they are being given a positive outlook on live and protected from exploitation. Therefore we financially support female AIDS-orphans so that they can attend school. One founding member of our organization is currently based in Adjumani (northern Uganda) and working on the education-project in cooperation with our partner-organization MACI-Uganda.

It is our goal to help these girls to gain their right to an education so that they will have the possibility to develop as independent personalities and ultimately obtain the freedom to lead their lives in self-determination.

TROUBLE 1: female body

Art-project presented by the non-profit organization Trixiewiz e.V. in the swimming baths „Stadtbad Oderberger Straße“: On May 28 and 29, 2005 we explored in various and creative ways why the female body causes TROUBLE in the context of identity, gender, cultural heritage and sexual orientation. TROUBLE 1: female body was the creative framework – the female body the „material“ with which the international artists work in various exciting ways.

„TROUBLE 1: female body“ was an international art show as well as an intercultural meeting place. The theme “female body” was deliberately approached from a critical and non-discriminatory perspective using all the different forms of artistic expression. In this event women were not objects, but subjects and experts of their environments.

Twenty female artists from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Greece, Turkey, the USA and Brazil presented their paintings, photographies, videos, installations performances, modern sculptures, music and dancework in Berlin. The artists approached the topic “female body” in various ways, because the body in itself is not unambiguous but multilayered and full of meanings. The works of art clashed, mergeed and overlaped in their effect, they became part of the location - the swimming baths „Stadtbad Oderberger Straße“ - creating the experience of a synthesis of the arts. Artists also gave aesthetic form to the area in front and inside the swimming baths itself and an exceptional cultural program was presented parallel to the exhibition.
