trixiewiz e.V. and the Freizeithaus e.V., in collaboration with the public library of Pankow and the Office for Integration commisioners of Weißensee, would like to invite you all to a benefit concert of the pianist Aeham Ahmad and the launch of his book “And the Birds will Sing“.
The reading and concert are part of the exhibition ‚Hasan in Pankow‘ – History(ies) of Migration in north-east Berlin. For more information: https://www.berlin.de/ba-pankow/politik-und-verwaltung/beauftragte/integration/information/artikel.654367.php
The donations from the concert will go for the care of the people of the Palestinian refugee camp Yarmouk in Damascus and for the support of the humanitarian organizations working there.
Aeham Ahmad, a pianist and piano teacher, lived in Yarmouk before his flight. He has played on the streets of the destroyed quarter with his rolling piano, despite the violence and death threats, in order to bring the people some moments of joy and rays of hope. In the fall of 2017 his autobiography “And the Birds will Sing“ was published by the S.Fischer publishing house.
Aeham Ahmad will musically accompany the reading of his autobiography and will share his personal impressions about the current situation in Syria and Yarmouk. The event would like to provide information and raise awareness to the situation in Yarmouk and Syria, and through music and words to deliver a message of freedom and peace. Together with Ahmad we would like to direct the attention to the current situation in Syria and to express our solidarity with the people there.
The reading will take place in German and Arabic.
